Beyond Your QR Code: Help New Customers Find Your Business

Your QR code helps people you meet find you. Starter and above can also help people who are already searching for your kind of business discover your Public profile.

The upgrade adds a new route to your business: QRown can make an eligible profile available for search indexing, include it in its profile sitemap, and use your Discovery answers to describe your work more clearly to search engines. You can also opt into QRown's own Discovery directory.

What a paid profile can do for you

  • Reach beyond your link and QR code. Someone looking for your service may find your profile without receiving it from you first.
  • Explain your business at a glance. Your name, category, services, description, and relevant location or service area can inform the page's search metadata.
  • Give visitors a next step. They can explore your work and use the contact or booking actions you put on the profile.

What changes when your profile gets indexed?

Indexing means a search engine has added information about your page to its collection. If it chooses to index your profile, it may show that page for a relevant search. The possible path is simple: search → profile visit → contact or booking.

Search engines decide whether to crawl, index, and show a page. A paid plan does not guarantee indexing, a position in results, traffic, or enquiries. Google's explanation of how search works describes those separate decisions.

Start with sharing. Grow with search.

Free is a useful home for your information. Share its link in your social bio, send it to a prospect, or show its QR code at an event. QRown prepares basic page and sharing metadata on Free. Starter and above add search-engine discovery and the option to join QRown Discovery.

What QRown prepares for search engines

  • A clear page identity: QRown generates a title, description, and canonical URL for the public profile. With paid enhanced Discovery, your category, services, own description, and relevant place can add context to the search text.
  • Machine-readable business details: On Starter and above, your Discovery answers can enrich schema.org JSON-LD with a specific local business category, named services, and service areas when they apply. Online-only businesses are described as organizations.
  • Discovery signals: An eligible Public profile permits indexing and appears in QRown's profile sitemap. The site's robots.txt points crawlers to that sitemap. QRown can also notify participating search engines of URL changes through IndexNow when that service is enabled.
  • Shareable previews: Open Graph and social card metadata help your link look useful when shared, on Free as well as paid plans.

These are ways to help search engines understand and find your page, not a promise that they will index or rank it. Keep your visible profile useful too: show relevant work or services and offer a clear contact action.

How to open your profile to search

  1. Choose Starter or above. For a team profile, search eligibility follows the workspace owner's plan. Upgrading a member's personal account does not upgrade the workspace.
  2. Set the profile to Public. Choose this only for information you want anyone to be able to see.
  3. Complete and save Discovery. Add a useful description, select an available business category, or enter a service, then finish the questionnaire.
  4. Check what visitors see. Open the profile and make sure your services, work examples, and contact or booking links are useful. Discovery answers do not replace the content on your profile.
  5. Choose whether to join QRown Discovery. Its directory opt-in is separate from search-engine eligibility.

Once your profile is ready, QRown makes it eligible for search and includes it in the profile sitemap. “Eligible for search” means the profile is ready to be considered; it is not confirmation that a search engine has indexed it. Keep sharing your link and QR code while search engines process the page.

Already paying? Check Public visibility

If the notice says “make profile Public,” open Visibility settings. Unlisted, QR Only, and Private profiles are not eligible for search. A paid plan does not override that choice. Keep a restricted setting if it suits your audience; switch to Public when you want the profile to be discoverable.

If the notice asks you to complete Discovery

Open Discovery, add a description, an available category, or a service, and finish and save the questionnaire. A profile name and handle alone are not enough. If you already have an eligible paid plan, this notice is asking for profile information, not another upgrade.

Use the business-description guide to explain what you do and who you help in a few clear sentences.

If your profile is locked

A locked profile is unavailable to visitors as well as search engines. Use “Manage profiles” to review its access and resolve the lock. Once access is restored, the plan, Public visibility, and Discovery requirements still apply.

If workspace access is needed

A team profile also needs active workspace access. Ask the workspace owner to review the team plan and restore access. Changing a teammate's personal subscription does not resolve a workspace restriction.
